The Gwangju Biennale Foundation has announced the full list of participating artists for their 12th edition, due to open on 7 September 2018. Under the title “Imagined Borders,” the Biennale will showcase the works of 153 artists from 41 countries. The biennial will be divided into seven independently curated exhibitions that will address issues ranging from migration to technology. In addition to the new exhibition model, the biennial will commission site-specific works that focus on the 1980 Gwangju Uprising, and the Pavilion Project, for which the Palais de Tokyo, the Helsinki International Artist Program, and the Philippine Contemporary Art Network will stage satellite exhibitions at historically significant locations across the city. Alexandre Arrechea participates in the biennial with pieces of tapestries and stainless steel.
