Currently on view at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro, the exhibition Fullgás – artes visuais e anos 1980 no Brasil, curated by Raphael Fonseca, Amanda Tavares, and Talisson Melo, features around 300 works by more than 200 artists from various regions of Brazil, offering a broad overview of the country’s arts scene during the 1980s. The exhibition occupies all eight galleries on the first floor and is divided into five conceptual nuclei, comprehensively addressing the period, including the structural and cultural changes from 1978 to 1993, spanning from the end of Institutional Act 5 to the impeachment of Fernando Collor de Mello.
The exhibition highlights works by artists from across the country, demonstrating that the artistic production of the time was not limited to the Rio-São Paulo axis and spotlighting important events such as the Videobrasil exhibition.
