Jonathas de Andrade presents the solo exhibition Gueule de bois tropicale et autres histoires at the Jeu de Paume – Château de Tours, in Tours, France, from June 20 to November 9, 2025. The show brings together around ten projects that explore themes such as tropical exoticism, the eroticization of the male body, miscegenation, and social and racial inequalities. Through photography, video, and installation, Andrade revisits popular traditions and vernacular imagery to deconstruct visual archetypes and offer a critical reflection on Brazilian and Latin American identity. The exhibition also includes a new work created especially for the occasion, inspired by the research of French filmmaker and ethnologist Jean Rouch.
