As part of the official program of exhibitions taking place alongside the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana presents Heinz Mack - Vibration of Light / Vibrazione della luce, a solo exhibition by German artist Heinz Mack. The exhibition is curated by Manfred Möller, and opens to the public on April 23, remaining on view through July 17, 2022.
The retrospective, which covers the artist’s 60 year long career, includes large scale paintings such as Der Garten Eden (2011) [The garden of Eden], as well as a selection of his iconic steles previously exhibited on the German Pavilion in 1970 when the artist represented the country at the 35th La Biennale di Venezia. The works will be shown alongside a four meter high and mirrored sculpture created specifically for the occasion.
Mack’s works will be exhibited at the Salone Monumentale del Sansovino in the Biblioteca Nazionale, located in the emblematic Piazza San Marco, in dialogue with the work of great masters like Tintoretto, Veronese and Ticiano. In intertwining different temporalities, the presentation highlights the pillars of Mack practice, namely his engagement with light, color and movement.
