On September 24, O Rebote do Bote, the largest solo exhibition by the artist Jonathas de Andrade, opens to the public at the Pina Estação building, at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo. Curated by Ana Maria Maia, the show presents an overview of the last fifteen years of the artist's production, divided into three rooms, each dedicated to a conceptual core.
"The idea was to go through different moments of Jonathas de Andrade's career, but without necessarily creating a chronology. We thought of great themes, but the guiding thread was to understand the aspects of these relationships he proposes with people, with collaborators, characters of the works", says the curator.
Among the highlights of the show are: the unpublished work Museu da Caravana (2022), which works as an offshoot of the work Cartazes for the Museu do Homem do Nordeste (2013); Teatro das Heroínas de Tejucupapo (2022), never before shown in Brazil and which was shown at FOAM in Amsterdam until May of this year; and the video Nó na Garganta (2022), a work commissioned and produced by the Fondazione in Between Art Film and which is part of Com o coração saindo pela boca (2022), an installation by Jonathas de Andrade for the Brazil Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale.
