Paço Imperial ,in Rio de Janeiro, is presenting Agitações pelo número, a solo exhibition by José Patrício, curated by Paulo Herkenhoff. With more than 70 works, the show will feature work developed over the last 10 years.
In addition to his well-known series of works with puzzle pieces, dice and buttons, Patrício, who is a collector of objects and popular art, is bringing from his studio in Recife a cabinet-vitrine with works from his collection. “I'm delighted to be returning to Rio de Janeiro to exhibit part of my production at Paço Imperial, the fruit of many years of constant research and production, based on mathematical principles and in tune with a certain constructive tradition of Brazilian art,” says the artist, who has previously exhibited in solo and group shows at the institution.
