about

Galeria Nara Roesler | Rio de Janeiro presents Irmãos (siblings), the first exhibition of Brígida Baltar at the Rio venue and the fifth, since she started to work with the gallery in 2001.

In 2015, the artist needed to perform a bone marrow transplant, and because of that, she had to go through a test exam called “chimerism” that would announce her compatibility to her sibling donor. The new works presented in the exhibition “Irmãos(siblings)” are embroideries of hybrid plants species and sculptures inspired by the chimera myth, as well as organic abstractions, all of them created from experiencied lived by the artist in her own body and transformed into methaphors.
