Desert X 2025, a group exhibition in California, presents a new work by Jose Dávila.

In The act of being together, Dávila utilizes marble blocks extracted from a quarry in Mexico, hundreds of kilometers from the exhibition site in the California desert. By transporting this raw material from one country to another, the artist reflects on displacement and transformation: the marble removed from its origin creates a striking presence in a new territory. Inspired by Robert Smithson's site/nonsite concept, Dávila explores the relationship between what is present and what has been removed, between the visible and the absent.

The exhibition is on display from March 8th to May 11th in Coachella Valley, California.
