On December 13, 2018, Institutional Act Number Five (AI-5) will complete 50 years.
Today, while Brazilian society mends the fragility of its fundamental institutions, the exhibition "AI-5 50 YEARS - It's Not Over Yet" discusses the costs of withdrawing democratic rights in the country's cultural imaginary. The research is centered on the production of visual arts of the period, with works, ideas and initiatives that were born by stressing the interdiction of opinion itself, which came to be virtually criminalized by practices of censorship and repression. In some cases, the works now presented were banned, destroyed or remained hidden. In others, their circulation was seriously restrained and their modes of expression went through codifications and tactics of resistance.
