Nara Roesler and José Patrício are pleased to announce the launch of Percursos de criação [Paths of Creation], a bilingual (Portuguese/English) publication in which the artist himself narrates his trajectory. For the occasion, the gallery's youtube channel will host a conversation between Patrício and curator Felipe Scovino, on July 13th, at 6 pm.
The monograph is organized in five chapters, beginning with the artist’s first contact with engraving in the 1970s. It then covers his interest in the production process of artisanal paper in the 1980s, which led him to create works in which seriality appears in consonance with the materiality of the support; and ends with his interest in industrial objects. This wide overview allows the reader to understand Patrício's practice through the artist's own eyes.
While the publication offers a historical perspective of the practice, Nara Roesler São Paulo is currently presenting Patrício's most recent work, on the occasion of the exhibition José Patrício: Potência criadora infinita, curated by Paula Braga, which will be on view through July 24th.
