O Sorriso de Acotirene (2018), by Mônica Ventura, is part of the group exhibition Ancestral: Afro-Américas, on view at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil. The show features around 160 works by Black artists from Brazil and the United States, celebrating the shared heritage and cultural ties between Afro-descendant communities across the Americas, with a focus on the critical power of the African diaspora.

With artistic direction by Marcello Dantas and curatorship by Ana Beatriz Almeida, the exhibition weaves together art, memory, and identity. Divided into three thematic axes — Body, Dream, and Space — it invites reflection on the affirmation of the Black body, the power of imagination, and the right to belonging.
