Opening to the public on June 13, at Instituto Ricardo Brennand in Recife, the exhibition Vik Muniz – A olho nu is the most comprehensive and wide-ranging presentation ever held on the artist’s work. Curated by Daniel Rangel the panoramic show brings together over 200 works created by Vik Muniz from the 1980s to the present day, including the sculpture Concretismo Clássico (2025), made especially for this exhibition.
A olho nu showcases the full diversity of materials used by Vik Muniz in the creation of his photographic images—sugar, diamonds, garbage, scrap metal, beans, earth, among others. The curator also sought to highlight the affinities between Vik’s popular visual universe and the culture of Brazil’s Northeast region, “whether through the use of everyday elements, the way he arranges them, or the images he creates.”
The exhibition is a partnership between Instituto Ricardo Brennand, Brazil’s Ministry of Culture, and Nara Roesler, with production by N+1 Arte Cultura.
