Starting on July 11, the Centro Cultural Unimed-BH Minas presents Um grão de domingo (A Sunday Grain), a solo exhibition by Cao Guimarães, curated by Luisa Duarte and Lucas Alberto. The show draws inspiration from Walter Benjamin’s idea that “a Sunday grain” may be hidden within the other days of the week, revealing moments of idleness, observation, and creativity in everyday life.
In the exhibition, Guimarães returns to his hometown with a selection of approximately fifteen works across various media, including photography, video, and installation. The show offers an overview of the artist’s trajectory, featuring emblematic works such as Gambiarra—now with a significant new addition—and Plano de Voo, as well as three new pieces: Guardião do Tempo, Rolezinho, and Clinamen.
With time as its central axis, the exhibition explores themes such as repetition, constant movement, and attentiveness to what reveals itself in the interstices of the present.
