Works by Jonathas de Andrade, Jose Dávila, Vik Muniz, and Xavier Veilhan are featured in MINEBANE! Contemporary Art – The Taguchi Art Collection, a group exhibition currently on view at the Akita Museum of Art in Japan.
The Taguchi Art Collection, one of Japan's leading contemporary art collections, has been built over two generations by businessman Hiroshi Taguchi and his daughter Miwa, and features works from around the world, including the United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Japan. This exhibition, held at two venues, the Akita Museum of Art and the Akita City Senshu Museum of Art, presents approximately 100 works carefully selected from a global perspective, offering an overview of the distinctive world of contemporary art.
“Minebane” means “must-see” in the Akita dialect, emphasizing the exhibition’s global scope and its reflection on the current landscape of contemporary art, with many works on display for the first time since their acquisition by the Taguchi Art Collection.
The exhibition remains on view through September 7 at the Akita Museum of Art.
