The work 'A Arte Contemporânea é Negra' (2016) by Elian Almeida participates in the exhibition 'Encruzilhadas da Arte Afro-brasileira'.
Curated by Deri Andrade, the exhibition brings together works produced by 61 black artists in 5 different axes, and is an offshoot of the Projeto Afro, which has been under development since 2016 and now has around 300 artists catalogued on the platform. The names cover a vast period of artistic production in Brazil, from the 19th century to the contemporaries born in the 2000s. "The exhibition brings another reference and a new view of national art to visitors," says the curator.
The exhibition will remain on view at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center in São Paulo through March 2024.
