about

Opening on November 12, Nara Roesler São Paulo presents Oikografías, an exhibition bringing together paintings by Fabio Miguez and sculptures by Raul Mourão, curated by Luis Pérez-Oramas. Drawing on the Greek concept of oikos, which refers to the home and to that which shelters us, the exhibition brings the two artists’ practices into dialogue through their explorations of the elements that define and organize space.

While Miguez explores architecture and forms of dwelling through oil and wax paintings inspired by buildings and urban landscapes, Mourão investigates the structural possibilities of sculpture through steel works that explore balance, containment, and movement. This dialogue is particularly evident in Miguez’s Bahia and Tijolos series, which take vernacular façades and buildings as their starting point, and in Mourão’s Swing casa series, in which the home becomes a point of departure for exploring the relationship between stability and movement.
