Galeria Nara Roesler | Rio de Janeiro presents Arquiteturas do Imaginário [Architectures of the Imaginary], a group show based on works that deal with issues related to the perception of the space, addressing the unfolding of architecture’s expanded field in the collective imaginary. Accompanied by a text by Paulo Sérgio Duarte, Architectures of the Imaginary articulates works in various media and languages, ranging from painting, sculpture, photography and video.
The title of the exhibition refers to Paulo Bruscky’s Architecture of the Imaginary (1982), a super 8 video produced during the year of his Guggenheim Fellowship. The video features marks of demolished buildings in the gables of neighboring buildings. These traces allow us to see and imagine what the dead buildings would have looked like.
